Eloquence Lost, Basketball Gained

The Phoenix Suns are battling it out with the Mavs in the Western Finals.

The Teenager doesn’t like basketball. We are barely speaking.

All diatribes dive for cover.

All clever quips flee.

All humor hides
under the sofa quivering
in fear for the sight
of the wild brunette
in the Steve Nash tank.

Only Basketball remains.

GOOOOOO SSSUUUNNNNNSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a shame they lost, but they stll have the upper hand I think.

By the way, tell the teenager what it was like before Phoenix had 4 (!) different sports teams. All we had was the Suns. I don't like basketball either, but every time the Suns play I'm either watching the game on cable here in Chicago or checking the scores online. I always come back to the Suns, not unlike a salmon, which I don't think is a complimetary comparison.

It drives my wife crazy because all she hears from me is how much I dislike basketball, and then the Suns show up on TNT and I'm begging her to switch the channel.

Even if one didn't like basketball or baseball or whatever, I find it hard to believe that one couldn't get into the spirit of the local team making good. Well, the Suns and the Heat are both 1-1 but have home court advantage. Keep the faith and I hope Raja can play next game.

Had to look Steve Nash up. I'm clueless! But you're funny, screaming on your couch!

Umm, neither the Suns nor the Heat have homecourt advantage. Pistons and Mavs do.

Elizabeth, I hope your team makes it to the finals to meet my team. After that, all bets are off and the gloves come off.

Matt, too funny! I'd forgotten those days, but you're right. This town has always gone a little nuts over basketball, and likely always will!

Bonnie, you're missing the basketball season of a lifetime if you haven't watched Steve Nash, yet! Tune in tomorrow night for what's sure to be a wild game!

Cheetarah, understood - rooting for you, too! (Sorry, Plant, but I once lived in Detroit - they're like my home town boys, too).

Buffy, a world without basketball...you poor dear. Do you need me to send you a Phoenix Suns baseball cap?

Sorry about last night's game. Now both of our teams are in the same position. I think this means they are destined to meet in the finals.

I must respectfully disagree, Elizabeth and Cheetarah. Heat/Mavs with my hometown boys coming out on top. Sorry, ladies.

GO HEAT!!!!!
